Our corporate theme, "Reigniting the Passion" encompasses many different meanings of "those days." The days of our predecessors, who worked tirelessly during the high-growth era to build the foundation of modern Japan. The days of our youth, when we were so absorbed in sports or passions that we completely lost track of time. And the days when we first entered the workforce, our hearts filled with hope and boundless ambition. We want to reawaken that fire—the frenzy everyone has experienced at least once in their lives. This is the core of our philosophy: Reclaiming the frenzy that drives us forward once again.

Why is it that Japan ranks 5th in the world by GDP, yet sits at 55th in the World Happiness Report?

While Japan boasts the world's 5th largest GDP as an economic powerhouse, there is a stark disparity in its 55th-place ranking in the World Happiness Report. Despite material abundance, emotional well-being has been left behind—a result of work styles, human relationships, and lingering anxiety about the future. In an era where success is no longer measured solely by numbers, the focus is shifting toward individual satisfaction and a sense of fulfillment. Now more than ever, we must rethink the structure of a society that fosters genuine human happiness, beyond mere economic growth.

"Those days", we were truly alive in the moment. So why is it so hard to find that same passion today?

Once, the "Five Cotton Trading Companies of Kansai" led Japan’s economic growth, boldly challenging global markets. In the era when "Japan as Number One" was the global standard, the nation ran forward without fear, believing firmly in its future. Today, however, we face a decline in international competitiveness and the harsh reality of having the world's lowest employee engagement scores. The frenzy we once felt—that unstoppable passion—is quietly fading away.
